Fruit bowl in black clay with mini holes to make your fruit colors stand out and invite you for a fresh snack. The perfect combination of simple and original. Inspiration: the pichancha, a traditional colander used for washing maize (corn) since pre-Columbian times. Produced: in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca. Material: pure clay burnished (with no additives). During the production process, they use traditional firing techniques that give its unique black color. These techniques come from ancient times in the state of Oaxaca (300 B.C.) and are still used by artisans. Each piece is placed inside a wood-fired oven and then smoked to give its black color. Due to this process the pieces have lighter color sections that hint the original clay color, and a silver color sections which derive from how they are positioned in the oven and how much.
